This series contains minutes and agenda from the Committee on Latin America (1946); the Commission on Cooperation in Latin America (1951), and the Division of Cooperation in Latin America (1951-1955). The National Lutheran Council's interest in Latin America dated to 1946 with its establishment of a Committee on Latin America, formed to study mission work possibilities in that country. Minutes are from a meeting held on June 5, 1946, and include the Committee's recommendation to the NLC Executive Committee that the NLC cooperate with the Lutheran World Convention in surveying opportunities for such work. Also included in the. Collection is a report on a visit to the German Evangelical Synods of South America by Carl E. Lund-Quist and Wilfried Tappert in 1948. Minutes and agenda of the Commission on Lutheran Cooperation in Latin America concern the formation of the Division in 1951. Division minutes and agenda (1951-1955) include election of officers, budget issues, conference planning, activity reports, and Latin American visitation reports by Division officials and representatives.
